Troubleshooting Your °CoolBot
Sensors Calibration Test
If you suspect there is a problem with one of your temperature sensors (Room or Fins), there is a simple procedure to make sure they are working correctly.
Guide applies to all CoolBots where the cables plug in at the bottom.
Heater Cable Test
If you suspect there is a problem with the Heater Cable there is a simple procedure to make sure it is warming up.
A heater light pulsing slowly is completely normal! That means the CoolBot is trying to keep the Heater Cable warm to “fool” the A/C’s temperature sensor and cool the room.
- Heater light pulsing slowly (or ON) = CoolBot is calling for Cool
- Heater light OFF = OFF Cycle
Remember! The Heater Cable is NOT for defrosting the A/C. Its only function is to warm the temperature sensor of your A/C (to “fool it”) so the compressor stays on and the room can cool.

Er Error - Room Sensor Problem
If your CoolBot is displaying a permanent Er error on the screen and the Room light flashes rapidly when you move the indicator light to the fins, heater or program position, there is a problem with the Room Sensor Cable.
NOTE: Sometimes, when new sensors are installed you can still get an error displaying on the CoolBot, do a Factory Reset to clear any errors on the board.

Ef/Er Error - Fins Sensor Problem
If your CoolBot is displaying an Ef (Er) error intermittently with a number (room temperature) and the Fins light flashes rapidly there is a problem with the Fins Sensor Cable.
NOTE: Sometimes, when new sensors are installed you can still get an error displaying on the CoolBot, do a Factory Reset to clear any errors on the board.

Eh Error - Heater Cable Problem
If you have an Eh displaying on the CoolBot you may have a problem with the Heater Cable or the heater port.

Bad Room or Fins Sensor - Workaround Mode
Factory Reset
Do this if you want to set your CoolBot to “Out of the box” settings.
WARNING! This will clear all changes you have made!
NOTE: Sometimes, when new sensors are installed you can still get an error displaying on the CoolBot, do a Factory Reset to clear any errors on the board.

ATTENTION CoolBot Pro users! There are 2 ways to do a Factory Reset on the Program menu of the CoolBot Pro:
- P1 or FR will clear everything INCLUDING your WiFi configuration..
- CS will just clear the CoolBot Settings but will leave your WiFi configuration intact.

Troubleshooting Your Air Conditioner
Cleaning Your A/C
Cleaning your Air Conditioner should be a vital part of your cooler maintenance plan – it will save you lots of headaches!
Like any other refrigeration or HVAC system, regular cleaning of your A/C is necessary and highly recommended to keep it working efficiently.
Dirty coils and fins on the inside of the cooler can cause many unintended issues, such as freezing, high temperatures, high humidity, etc. Sometimes the surface of the fins may look clean but in between them is stuck on dust build up. We recommend cleaning the fins regularly every month or two to prevent surface build up. And a deep clean* every few months to year depending on the environment. You can see our video below on how to do a regular easy surface cleaning.
Dirty outside coils, motors, and other outside components of your A/C can lead to premature failure, overheated compressor, loss of efficiency, poor cooling performance, poor ventilation and all sorts of unintended problems. Ensure that you have a scheduled maintenance plan in place for cleaning the outside coils and outside components of your A/C at least once a year*
*There are many videos available on “YouTube” explaining how to do a deep cleaning of a window A/C (typically by removing it from the wall and placing it on a workbench). Caution should always be used when cleaning A/Cs as not to splash any water or cleaner on its electronic components or use the wrong type of cleaners. Use common sense! If using a professional Coil Cleaner – available at most hardware stores – please follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Diagnose Air Conditioner Issues
If your A/C appears to not be functioning properly, such as the compressor not turning off or not coming on when the temperature is well over 60°F, buttons on the control panel not responding, A/C not powering on at all, etc.

Air Conditioners with Secondary Sensors
If your new A/C is not getting you cooler temperature as low as you want or fluctuating, the A/C may have a secondary sensor causing the issue.
Most brands of A/Cs have secondary sensors especially if they are 10K BTUs or larger. They will still work fine if they are a brand A/C listed on our A/C Compatibility List. But there are a couple added steps to place the secondary sensor correctly.
